Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah announced on Monday that for the upcoming domestic season, prize money will be given to all Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament winners. Prize money will be awarded in all junior and women's cricket tournaments. In senior men’s cricket, Player of the Match awardees in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be given cash prize. The decision is a testimony to the engagement of the BCCI, not only to make domestic cricket stronger but also to bring out and reward young potential players with real rewards. The introduction of the prize money is expected to motivate players at every level, recognizing and acknowledging excellence in junior, women, and senior men's cricket. It will further emphasize that talent has to be nurtured and performances acknowledged and rewarded, which will heighten the competition spirit more than ever in domestic cricket.
