The former IPL winning captain Rohit Sharma is nearing his last phase of his cricketing career. The 38-year-old opening batter currently plays as a substitute batter in the Mumbai Indians squad. In such a phase, reports suggest that the Mumbai-based franchise is looking to get back Ishan Kishan from his current team, Sunrisers Hyderabad. A report from the Times of India says the Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians have shown interest in Ishan Kishan before the 2026 IPL auction happens. According to the report, the team is looking to trade in Kishan. However, whether it's a player exchange or a monetary transaction is not confirmed yet. Speaking about Rajasthan Royals, the franchise is currently undergoing confusion with their captain and regular opening batter cum wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who is willing to leave. In such a condition, Ishan Kishan will be a great steal for them. Last year, the South African Ryan Rickleton did well for MI. However, they might want to bring another Indian, and also try to prepare a squad for the post-Rohit Sharma era. Well, Right now, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) doesn’t really want to let Ishan go — they’d prefer to keep him on their team. But — if Ishan himself decides he wants to leave, then SRH’s stance might change. In that case, they could allow or consider letting him go. A former MI Paltan, Ishan had his peak IPL seasons with the Mumbai Indians but couldn’t replicate that success at Sunrisers Hyderabad after being signed for ₹11.25 crore in the 2025 mega auction. He was on the verge of a Test comeback for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, but an untimely injury ruled him out, allowing N. Jagadeesan to step in for Rishabh Pant.
