Former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla feels that two new players are set to be the 'next Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Even though many feel Yashasvi Jaiswal could be the star for India across all formats, Chawla picked two other right-handed batsmen. Over the years, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have become two of the main players as captains and top batsmen for India. Kohli has been an important player since 2008 in ODIs, 2010 in T20Is, and 2011 in Tests, whereas Rohit has been an awesome opener in white-ball cricket since 2013 and red-ball cricket since 2019. But Rohit is 37 and Kohli is 35, so their careers are gradually winding down. The two have already retired from T20I cricket following India's triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup, and nobody knows for how long they will keep up their appearances in the ODIs and Test matches. Piyush Chawla said on Shubhankar Mishra's Youtube channel, "Shubman Gill. Because of his technique. When you go through a bad form, the batter whose technique is strong can come out of it. Any batter whose technique is good, does not stay out for form for a long time. And Ruturaj Gaikwad.Whenever he (Ruturaj Gaikwad) gets a chance, he looks like a different player," Shubman Gill represents India across all formats. He was named as vice-captain for T20Is and ODIs against Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill has played 25 Tests, 47 ODIs, and 21 T20Is, and has 11 centuries to his name.On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad has struggled the most to get regular games. He so far has played 6 ODIs and 23 T20Is, and is yet to play Test cricket for India.
