After several speculations, it is now official that Phil Salt will feature in today's IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings. The game is at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. Salt had traveled back to the UK for his child's birth, and fans were not sure if he would make it back in time. He also sat out on the last practice session, which further fuelled the uncertainty. But this morning around 3 a.m., Salt arrived back in Ahmedabad, and RCB has stated that he will be playing. This is an excellent development for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Phil Salt has been one of RCB's top performers this season. The English opener has scored 387 runs at a strike rate of 175.9. His partnership with Virat Kohli at the top has been excellent. The two have accumulated 664 runs this season at a team average of 47.42. They've contributed to RCB getting good starts to many games. He hasn't overcome a hamstring strain that he suffered while fielding against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He also missed the previous match against Punjab in the playoffs. This is the fourth occasion RCB has appeared in an IPL final (2009 vs Deccan Chargers, 2011 vs CSK, 2016 vs SRH and 2025 vs PBKS). Although they have made it to the final thrice previously, they are yet to lift the trophy. With Salt returning to his best form, fans feel that this could be the year for RCB to lift the trophy. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, have made it into the finals after 11 long years. Just like RCB, they are also in the hunt of their maiden IPL title and hence, this high voltage clash between the two teams in red will be no less than a blockbuster.
