South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been served a legal notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching his Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract. Bosch was originally set to play in the PSL after being picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the player draft held in Lahore on January 13. However, he later withdrew from the tournament after being signed as a late replacement by the Mumbai Indians for his injured South African teammate, Lizaad Williams, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With the IPL beginning on March 22 and the PSL starting on April 11, this is the first time both leagues will be held at the same time. To avoid scheduling conflicts and confusion, the PCB conducted its draft in January 2025 after the IPL 2025 auction took place in November 2024. Despite this effort, Bosch’s decision to opt out of the PSL after signing a contract has led to legal action. The PCB has issued the legal notice through his agent, and the all-rounder is expected to respond within a given time frame. PSL to clash with IPL The 2025 season marks the first time the PSL and IPL will be played simultaneously since the PSL’s inception in 2016. Previously, the PSL was held from February to March. However, due to the ICC Champions Trophy and other T20 leagues like SA20, ILT20, and BPL taking place at the same time, the quality of the PSL suffered. Many top overseas players were unavailable as they had already signed with other leagues. However, this decision resulted in a direct clash with the IPL. Since the PSL draft took place after the IPL auction, several players who were not picked for the IPL signed up for the PSL, including Kane Williamson, David Warner, and Jason Holder.
