Young Pakistan batter Saim Ayub, who was caught in an unfortunate incident during an ongoing second Test against South Africa in Cape Town, went over the top on Day 1 in the seventh over to a delivery edged to deep third man by Ryan Rickelton; Aamer Jamal assisted him when he saved a boundary and the ball came off the field pull towards Ayub to act like a relay. The latter had lost his balance and twisted an ankle. He was then placed on the stretcher and taken off the field. The expert analysis proved their worst fears to be true, and he was ruled out of the remainder of the game. For now, the Pakistan opener will have to spend at least six weeks in the recovery room before he can be readied to take the field again. Interestingly, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has instructed Ayub to travel to London to receive medical attention that is being termed as urgent. Initially roped in as a T20I batter, he has proved his mettle to become the first-choice opener for Pakistan in the longer format as well. He has played seven Tests and has 364 runs to his name at an average of 26. He gained fame after a 101-run knock against South Africa in the third ODI on December 22, for which he was awarded Player of the Match. He has made three centuries in just nine ODIs.
