The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued revised protocols for the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League after the controversies regarding Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza. PCB informed all the participating eight franchises that players can only allow their family members with prior permission from the board in their personal space. A report from PTI said PCB has passed the mandate to all teams, saying that players can only let in parents, siblings, and wives in the room. The players have to seek permission before 24 hours of the scheduled meeting date. The PTI report said, “The Board has made it clear that anyone wanting to meet with family members in the hotel has to seek permission 24 hours before the intended visit by family members." It added, “The Board has also made it clear that only a player’s wife, parents, brother and sister are allowed inside the player’s room, that too after getting clearance from the Board 24 hours in advance." Added to this, meetings are strictly restricted to hotel lobbies or designated cafes, with a total ban on visitors entering player rooms. The PCB warned that any future "forceful" entries or unauthorized guests would result in immediate suspension from the tournament, moving beyond just fines Read also: ECB mulls football-style spending rules as Sussex losses trigger county salary sustainability crackdown debate nationwide Why did PCB issue the diktat? The tightening happened after Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza were found interacting with unauthorized visitors in the hotel room. The players allegedly had a long time inside the suits and had reportedly stayed till 1:30 am. It was also reported that PCB security manager and PSL CEO Salman Naseer had already declined the meeting earlier. But they somehow bypassed the on-duty security personnel The Punjab Police detained the visitors and accused both players of "forcefully escorting" four unauthorized visitors into a player's hotel room. While Lahore Qalandars imposed a PKR 1 million fine on captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Raza was released, calling it a misunderstanding. Actually Raza posted a photo on his Instagram that broke the outrage. However, Raja later took the blame and gave the excuse of Pakistani heritage, claiming that a few of his family members and friends from the locality came to visit him. He even claimed that Shaheen was innocent and had just helped him.
