Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed hope that the 2025 Champions Trophy would be held in Pakistan, with all teams including India, participating. It is scheduled to start on 19 February and the final match on March 9. The events are to take place in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. India did not send its team to Pakistan since July 2008 following some political issues between the two countries. Naqvi believes India will come to Pakistan next year and said everything is in order. He said the stadiums would be in much better shape than what happened with the ICC event. He said: "The Indian team should come. I don't see them cancel or postpone coming here and we are confident we will host all the teams in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The stadiums will also be ready to host the matches on schedule and any remaining work would be completed after the tournament. In a way, you can say that we are going to have a brand new stadium." When asked if he would meet Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his visit to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting on October 15-16, Naqvi dismissed the idea. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said it would be a decision of the Indian government to decide whether to send team India for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Commenting on Babar Azam's resignation from the white-ball captaincy and his eventual replacement, Naqvi said he had advised the selection committee to take its time and make a long-term decision. Naqvi said: "I have told them to take a decision after careful consideration because the captain's position is important." He also sought information from the selection committee along with the national team captain and head coach whether it is the right time to introduce new faces in the national teams. He added: "They said they are okay with the current set-up of players so I told them 'fine, it is your call'."
