Punjab Kings entered the 2025 IPL Mega Auction with the highest purse value of INR 110.50 crore, as they had just retained two uncapped players, Shashank Singh (INR 5.5 crore) and Prabhsimran Singh (INR 4 crore) only. The fact they had realease Ashutosh Sharma was shocking. Nevertheless, the team had signed Ricky Ponting as their head coach, and it was obvious that PBKS would be desperate for Shreyas Iyer. The Iyer-Ponting duo had led the Delhi Capitals to their first IPL final in 2020. INR 26.75 sounds way too big for Shryeas Iyer, but a satisfied Ponting, in the lunch session on Day 1 of the auction, has clearly stated that Iyer is going to lead the team. The other hefty buy for the team was Arshdeep Singh. Surprisingly, they didn't go for the bid but used their Right to Match card and retained him for INR 18 crore. Alongside Arshdeep, Yuzvendra Chahal was the other one to be the second-costliest member of PBKS with INR 18 crore. Some cheeky buy on the first day that gave some essence of 2020 DC was getting Marcus Stoinis in Punjab. They got him for INR 11 crores and later signed the other Aussie, Glenn Maxwell, for a decent Rs. 4.20 crores. The other important buy they did was to get the ex-Mumbai Indian batter Nehal Wadhera in PBKS for INR 4.20 crore, They also stole Lockie Ferguson with just INR 2 crore Also Read | IPL 2025: Full Squad List of All 10 Teams After Mega Auction Punjab Kings Squad for IPL 2025 No Players Role Nation Price (in INR) 1 Shreyas Iyer Batter India 26.75 crore 2 Yuzvendra Chahal Bowler India 18 crore 3 Arshdeep Singh Bowler India 18 crore 4 Marcus Stoinis All-rounder Australia 11 crore 5 Marco Jansen All-rounder South Africa 7 crore 6 Shashank Singh Batter India 5.5 crore 7 Glenn Maxwell All-rounder Australia 4.20 crore 8 Nehal Wadhera Batter India 4.20 crore 9 Prabhsimran Singh Wicketkeeper India 4 crore 10 Priyansh Arya All-rounder India 3.80 crore 11 Josh Inglis Wicketkeeper Australia 2.60 crore 12 Azmatullah Omarzai All-rounder Afghanistan 2.40 crore 13 Lockie Ferguson Bowler New Zealand 2 crore 14 Vijaykumar Vyshak Bowler India 1.80 crore 15 Yash Thakur Bowler India 1.60 crore 16 Harpreet Brar All-rounder India 1.50 crore 17 Aaron Hardie All-rounder Australia 1.25 crore 18 Vishnu Vinod Wicketkeeper India 95 lakh 19 Kuldeep Sen Bowler India 80 lakh 20 Xavier Bartlett Bowler Australia 80 lakh 21 Harnoor Pannu Batter India 30 lakh 22 Musheer Khan Batter India 30 lakh 23 Suryansh Shedge All-rounder India 30 lakh 24 Pyla Avinash Batter India 30 lakh 25 Pravin Dubey All-rounder India 30 lakh For the 2025 IPL, PKS acquired a total of 25 players, having 17 overseas Indians and 8 overseas, with a purse remaining of 0.35 crore.
