The Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians have met 32 times throughout IPL history. Mumbai has a slight edge with 17 wins to Punjab's 15. However, in their May 26, 2025 IPL confrontation, it was the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab team that splashed out a commanding 7-wicket victory. MI set Punjab a target of 185, but PBKS went on to achieve it in 18.3 overs. For Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav was the top scorer with 57 runs; while Priyansh Arya (62) and Josh Inglis (73) were the chief architects in Punjab's pursuit of the target. In the bowling camp, it was shared wickets between Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh- four to be precise- stoppage of India's momentum. This could be the best kind of preparation for Punjab as they meet MI once more in Qualifier 2 on Sunday. Hit the Best XI: If Chahal is fit, Punjab must play him ahead of Azmatullah Omarzai or Kyle Jamieson. Chahal dismissed Suryakumar Yadav thrice in 12 innings and bowled 29 dot balls in 71 deliveries to him. His control might be precious. Harpreet Brar: The left-arm wrist-spinner has been phenomenal with 10 wickets from eight games at 8.63 runs per over. He also got Rohit Sharma in the last game against MI. Shreyas Iyer must cultivate Brar's talents adequately once more. Jasprit Bumrah – The biggest challenges: Bumrah remains the biggest challenge before PBKS. He has 24 wickets for 17 matches against them with an economy of 6.23 only. If PBKS batters can survive his opening spell, then they can build a big score. Punjab cannot afford early wickets here. Captain Shreyas Iyer's Role: Iyer took the baton this season, scoring 516 runs. A good innings from him practically lifts the entire side. His form will be key for PBKS going into the all-important knockout.
