Sam Konstas, the teen debutant, has been the talk of the town for his attitude on the field, and Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper, has supported the youngster, reminding the guests of the difference between confidence and bullying. After ten years, Australia regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy, winning the series with a 3-1 margin. On January 6, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia defeated India by six wickets to claim the trophy. Following that, during the press conference, Cummins said that he was impressed with Konstas' demeanor. But according to him, the Indians misunderstood him. In the post-match press conference, Cummins said, "First of all, obviously, ICC set the rules and set the punishments. We saw that in Melbourne with Virat, getting 20% fine, that's what they thought. So obviously, that's the standard that they're happy with. In regards to Sam, I've been really impressed with how he's gone about it. I think people mistake a bit of confidence with bullying or abuse." Cummins's say of Virat Kohli's altercation with Konstas The 19-year-old Sam Konstas has been a chatterbox on the field. Apart from orchestrating the crowd to sledging his opponents, Konstas has been a face of irritation for the Indians. The final outbreak happened in Melbourne when he had a shoulder-brush-off moment with Virat Kohli, who was walking towards his fielder while juggling with the ball. Konstas then was seen mimicking that moment and was seen celebrating Kohli's wicket quite aggressively, which the Indians had answered back when Jasprit Bumrah cleared Sam Konstas. Speaking about Kohli's attitude, Cummins commented, “You're allowed to walk around with your shoulders puffed back and play a few cricket shots. I don't think that's illegal, but some people really take offence to that and want to kind of put him back in his place." Konstas' "confidence" reached a point when he had to turn back and triggered Bumrah while he was bowling Khawaja on Sydney Day 1. Khawaja, accused of wasting time, had agonized Bumrah, to which he expressed frustration. Out of nowhere, Konstas from the non-striker end went on Bumrah costing Khawaja's wicket. Later, Ricky Ponting, who slammed the ICC for not banning Kohli in Sydney, warned Konstas to at least not go after Bumrah. However, Konstas impressed on his debut in the fourth Test in Melbourne, scoring 60 (65) with fearless strokeplay, including reverse-scooping Bumrah for boundaries. The 19-year-old finished the series with 113 runs at an average of 28.25 and a strike rate of 81.88.
