Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel has taken up a mentorship role with Outer Delhi Warriors, the newest team in Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2. Known for his composed approach and sharp reading of the game, Patel will now work closely with a young squad featuring IPL talents Priyansh Arya and Suyash Sharma. As the Warriors prepare for their DPL debut, Patel’s experience with franchises like Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans could help establish a steady foundation. The move highlights the team’s intent to build a structure that balances performance with long-term development. Speaking to India today, Patel said, “You talk about established teams. But here, the platform is different and cricketers are at different stages of their professional journey. It is extremely important to understand the mindset of every cricketer." He believes a good environment is essential for players to fully express themselves within limits. He added, “It is essential to provide a platform where players are able to express themselves fully without crossing the line, and that is what we will try to do here." He also pointed out that while auctions often overlook talent, those who make the cut must be nurtured carefully. “Every cricketer is young, and if they have reached here, it means that they have certain capabilities. The ones we have grabbed, we would try to bring the best out of them, and for the same, the role of the support staff is of vital importance.” When asked what keeps a dressing room united, Patel kept his response simple. “It’s about keeping it light, keeping it happy, and making sure that you don’t judge anyone. Everyone has their own way of preparing, so it’s important to keep a flexible mindset.”
