As Gaddafi Stadium is gearing up for the highly anticipated tri-nation series, the Pakistan government is allotting high-voltage security for the match between New Zealand and South Africa. Pakistan is presently undergoing massive political turmoil after the PTI leader, aka former prime minister Imran Khan, got arrested. Authorities have decided to deploy the Pakistan Army and Rangers for foolproof security in Lahore, where the matches will begin on February 8. Coincidentally, Khan's party, PTI, has announced a protest march on February 8 itself. Even though they did not get permission for the rally, they have decided to continue with it as planned. And this has added more tensions surrounding the security of the match. Officials are fearing large gatherings and have requested the Federal Interior Ministry to approve additional forces to combat any kind of security inconveniences. A spokesperson confirmed that strict measures will be in place from February 5 to February 10 to protect the players. PTI has declared February 8 a ‘Black Day’ and plans to march to Minar-e-Pakistan, claiming last year’s election results were unfair. The government and PTI recently failed to reach an agreement on investigating past incidents, fueling further tensions. With cricket and politics colliding, Pakistan faces a major security test. Officials remain on high alert, determined to ensure both the tournament and the city remain safe.
