The cricket relations between India and Pakistan continue to remain strained and Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has now landed himself into trouble after his latest remarks about Indian cricketers and the Indian cricket fraternity. India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2012 and the relations between the two neighboring countries have further aggravated after the recent Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 Indians. After the incident the BCCI reportedly advised Indian cricketers not to interact with Pakistan cricketers in matches and tournaments. The move faced criticism from various quarters of Pakistan but Indian authorities insisted it was done in the light of rising security and political concerns. Faheem Praises Raina But Questions Indian Players Faheem Ashraf was recently on the YouTube channel of Hassan Azam and he spoke about the cricketers who were his inspiration growing up. Those people (Indians) can't take our names, but we don't have any problem in praising them. They will get in trouble in complimenting us, but we won't." He also expressed admiration for many of the great former stars of the game. He added : "Then there was Kumar Sangakkara. In bowling, I loved Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul and Mohammad Amir. Everyone praises the stars of yesterday years, but I started playing watching them." However Faheem's statement has immediately come under fire on social media as the Pakistani all-rounder had earlier posted controversial remarks about India during the Operation Sindoor. The Pakistan all-rounder had apparently shared an Instagram story featuring an artwork where they were depicting a missile strike on India with Indian troops getting hit after the armed operation by India into Pakistan during that time earlier this month. As the clips of the above interview went viral on social media, users have accused Faheem of adopting a double standard approach. Uncertain Future with the Pakistan team Apart from all the controversy Faheem Ashraf is also going through a tough phase of his cricket career. The all-rounder had a torrid PSL 2026 season and failed to make any sort of impact in the T20 World Cup which Pakistan couldn't qualify from the Super 8 stage. Sources reveal that the PCB might revoke Faheem's central contract after the poor performances as young Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal who have been impressive against Bangladesh in the Test series are likely to get a contract from the PCB. Faheem Ashraf is currently playing for Yorkshire in the County Championship and would be hoping to turn his red-ball career around and make his comeback in the Test team of Pakistan.
