Pakistan's first-ever series loss to Bangladesh has sent Shan Masood's team tumbling down to 8th place in the ICC Test rankings. Pakistan had lost the first Test by 10 wickets and went down in the second Test by six wickets, both in Rawalpindi. Bangladesh stayed at No. 9 despite a gain of 13 rating points- below Pakistan. See the ICC's statement on their website, “Pakistan dropped two places in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings to go to eighth position after suffering a shock series loss at home to Bangladesh,” the ICC said on its website. “The hosts were sixth in the rankings table before the series, but back-to-back losses have seen them drop below West Indies to eighth with 76 rating points. “This is the lowest rating points Pakistan have had in the Test rankings table since 1965, barring a brief period where they did not have a place in the rankings due to an insufficient number of matches.” The win took Bangladesh to No. 4 on the WTC points table, behind leaders India, Australia and New Zealand. The winning runs in the 2nd test, Day 5th, were hit by Shakib Al Hasan with the immense contribution of veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, as Bangladesh created history by beating Pakistan by six wickets. Bangladesh will now face India in a two-Test series starting on September 19 in Chennai. They have 45.83 percentage points and 33 points from three wins and three losses in six Tests. In the WTC, 12 points are awarded for a Test win, four for a draw and six for a tie while team being ranked according to percentage of points won.
