In the wake of the geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, several Indian players pulled themselves out from the match against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), leading to the cancellation of the match. This normally suggests point division, to which Pakistan opposed. According to a report, Pakistan has refused to share a point with India, saying it's India who backed out. Speaking to ANI, WCL said, "WCL have conveyed to England and Wales Cricket Board that they, as organisers, were not able to conduct this match. The India Champions team are not at fault. Pakistan Champions team are not willing to share points because they are saying that it is India who backed out, not them." Notably, the match was scheduled on July 20, at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The match was called off after Shikhar Dhawan gave an official notice to the organizers. Earlier, players like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and others decided to back out. WCL organizers even issued an official apology letter saying that they didn't mean to hurt the sentiments, confirming the abandonment of the match. A WCL official claimed that in case Pakistan and India both qualify for the semifinals, the math can be avoided. That there will be four teams, and the teams can be shuffled. Speaking to GeoNews, Kamil Khan, the Pakistan Champions owner, said, “As for the semifinals and final, we’re currently saying that if we make it to the semifinals, there will be four teams, and we will avoid matches between the two teams." Kamil Khan also voiced for Pakistan getting two points, blaming India for being responsible for the cancellation. He added, “And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules."
