The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially announced that fans will be welcomed to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) final, set to unfold in Lahore on May 3. This exciting news comes after the board secured permission from Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to let fans experience the event live. Earlier, on March 22, the PCB had opted to hold the league stages of PSL 11 behind closed doors due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and the ongoing issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan. While he was also inclined to permit fans, he emphasised that austerity measures are currently in place across Pakistan, with efforts underway to minimise fuel consumption. However, on the request of franchise owners, he has graciously approved the presence of fans for the PSL 11 Final. I sincerely thank him for this decision and for facilitating the fans,” PCB chairman Naqvi wrote on the social media platform X. Back in March, the PCB made the decision to limit PSL 11, which was originally planned to take place across six cities, to just Lahore and Karachi. This choice was influenced by the conflict between Iran and Israel, which involved the USA and impacted fuel supplies to the country. Consequently, the board decided to keep fans away from the league matches to prioritize fuel conservation. So far, 36 out of 44 games have been played in PSL 2026. Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United have already secured their spots in the playoffs. Meanwhile, there’s an intense competition among the defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Hyderabad Kingsmen, and Karachi Kings for the last playoff spot, with all three teams currently tied at 8 points each.
