There have been instances reported where the Pakistan Cricket Board has been found supporting the Bangladesh Cricket Board on their demand to move away from India in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, in a recent development, it is believed that PCB wrote to the International Cricket Council, demanding to take BCB's side. A report from ESPNCricinfo said that PCB mailed the ICC on Tuesday, that is, November 20, a day before Bangladesh is expected to make a final call—either play in India or back out. Earlier reports said that ICC gave an ultimatum to make a final call on January 21. As per reports, ICC will be calling a board meeting today to decide the future of Bangladesh regarding T20 World Cup participation. Even though it is not confirmed if Pakistan's poke worked, the ICC is unlikely to bend to Bangladesh moving to Sri Lanka. Mustafizur Rahman's IPL departure Bangladesh and ICC have been writing to each other a number of times and have had several physical meetings, mostly in Dhaka. Following BCCI releasing Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders unit in IPL 2026, the relationship between the two boards got scarred. BCB not only declared to ban IPL broadcasts in Bangladesh but also started to write aggressively to the Council, urging them to not play in India. They even wrote to Sri Lanka to host them and urged ICC to swap groups with Ireland, which the latter quickly rejected. Apparently that looked like a security concern, as cited by Bangladesh; it is majorly the ego, termed as self-respect, that has been hurt, and Bangladesh did not back out to say that multiple times. It even led to personal fights, internal conflicts, BCB distancing from key members and players boycotting.
