The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Mr. Sumair Ahmad Syed, its Chief Operating Officer, as the Tournament Director for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan. The announcement happened amidst India's participationchaos and dilemmas over Pakistan's hosting rights. Despite the ongoing confusions, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his confidence in Syed’s capabilities, highlighting his extensive administrative expertise and deep passion for cricket. However, despite bringing positive excitement, it brought tensions regarding the geopolitical issues of two neighbors—Pakistan and India. India has stated to the ICC that they won't participate in the tournament in case Pakistan reserves the hosting rights, citing security issues. Naqvi too countered, assuring a warm welcome but not bending the spine to opt for a hybrid model. From Pakistan's point of view, India's participation is necessary for generating revenues. Otherwise, it may result in a whopping approximate $65 million loss.
