Pakistan after their early group exit from the Champions Trophy 2025 is set to travel to New Zealand for the multi-format white-ball series which is set to commence a week later after the conclusion of Champions Trophy 2025. What has come as shocking is that Pakistan's senior men’s cricket selection committee has dropped their senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from the T20I squad for this series and Salman Ali Agha has been announced as the new T20I captain for this tour. However, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are included in the ODI squad and Rizwan will continue to lead the side in the 50-over format but Fakhar Zaman has been left out of the ODI squad due to his injury. Salman Ali Agha will serve as Rizwan’s deputy in that ODI series. It is worth mentioning that Akib Javeb will serve as the head coach of the team for this series, Akib whose tenure was only limited to the Champions Trophy 2025 but it has been now extended to this tour unless PCB finds a new white-ball coach. Mohammad Yousuf has been appointed as batting coach.
