Skipper Shan Masood called the innings at 448 for six with Mohammad Rizwan unbeaten on 171 in the first innings of Pakistan as the team played Bangladesh on the second day of the Test match in Rawalpindi. Rizwan missed a double century by just 29 runs. Asked to bat first, Pakistan wobbled from the start at 16/3. Saim Ayub then added 98 runs for the fourth wicket with vice-captain Saud Shakeel, who contributed with 56. Thereafter, the mammoth partnership followed, that between Shakeel and Rizwan, who put on 240 runs for the fifth wicket. While Shakeel was dismissed for an individual score of 141, Rizwan remained unbeaten at 171* when the declaration was made. There were some arguments on social media that whether Shan Masood should have consistently waited until Rizwan reached his double century, but later after the match, Shakeel said the truth was that Rizwan was told that he would be declared in an hour. Among the highlights from that video is Rizwan throwing away his bat; meanwhile, he was being clapped for by Babar, who stood right at the boundary. Then, as Rizwan is walking back to the dressing room, he has a small moment with Babar, playfully tossing his bat towards him.
