On this day in 19th October 2020, MS Dhoni became the first player in IPL history to play 200 matches. The game was scheduled at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi where Dhoni led his CSK team against RR. The 200th game for Dhoni did not go off to plan for CSK. They totally collapsed and could score only 125 runs. Dhoni played a steady knock, scoring 28 runs from 28 balls, and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten with 35 runs to help CSK set a modest target. Rajasthan Royals chased the target with ease. Jos Buttler's magnificent 70 off 48 balls and Steve Smith's 26 helped RR win the game with 16 balls to spare. This loss ensured CSK did not make it to the playoffs, which happened only rarely during Dhoni's tenure. But Dhoni and CSK were back the following season as they won their fourth IPL title in 2021.
