The Indian cricketers rallied together to celebrate the military’s latest counter-terror operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor. In the early hours of May 7, Indian armed forces launched precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), responding to the recent Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. The government termed the strikes “firm yet restrained,” aimed at neutralising high-value terror infrastructure linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, without escalating military conflict or causing civilian harm. Indian Air Force jets executed the mission without breaching Pakistani airspace, taking even Pakistan’s defence completely by surprise. "A little while ago, the Indian armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed," the official statement read. The Indian Army released a brief video message on the social media platform X following the operation, declaring: "Justice is served. Cricketers react to Operation Sindoor Soon after the operation was confirmed, former India internationals like Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, and Pragyan Ojha led the wave of tributes on social media, praising the armed forces for their “calculated” and “decisive” response. Among the current cricketers, Varun Chakravarthy was the first to react to the attacks. He took to his Instagram Story to show his support for the Indian army. Notably, England's Sam Billings, who has played cricket in both IPL and PSL, took to social media to talk about the situation.
