Legendary wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist hopes that Australia will be able to prove they still are strong at home when India arrives for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) later this year. Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014/15. India won it in 2017 and has retained it with some fine displays, first in India and then in Australia. In fact, India won the last two Test series played in Australia. They first won the series in Australia 2-1 in 2018/19 and once again in 2020/21. Rohit Sharma's team will look to win the third consecutive Test series when they play Pat Cummins' outfit in the five-match series beginning this November. Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist warned Pat Cummins and his army, saying that India has the talent to win on foreign soil. He added that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy is going to be a closely contested series. While speaking to The Times of India, Gilchrist said: "Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India know how to go away and win overseas." He further added that: "Naturally, I'm going to say Australia, hope they get there. But it's too close to call. It will be a close tussle." They would be pretty much on a confident line after the success they had in England during the World Test Championship Final against India last year. India is going through a transition phase in batting, where they are giving a chance to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan at the top order. The duo has done well so far, but facing the ruthless pace attack of Australia, with the likes of Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood, will be another challenge. What one can look forward to is a great contest between two of the world's top Test teams fighting for one of cricket's finest prizes: the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
