A strange moment unfolded during the third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand on April 5 at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, when a sudden power outage caused the floodlights to go off. The floodlight failure incident happened in the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings. Tayyab Tahir was at the crease, and just as Jacob Duffy ran in to bowl, the ground went dark. Tahir had to step away as the delivery couldn’t be completed. Play resumed shortly after the lights returned. However, in an unfortunate turn for Pakistan, Tahir was dismissed on the very next ball. He was out for 33 off 31 deliveries. A video of the moment the lights went out has gone viral on Social Media. PURE DRAMA! at the Bay Oval ground where lights went off exactly the moment bowler released the ball. Very well commentated and after scene coverage.#NZvPAK #NZvsPAK pic.twitter.com/5lybqK6Jml — Yash💟 (@Singher_14) April 5, 2025 New Zealand complete a clean sweep in ODI series After winning the T20I series 4-1, New Zealand completed a clean sweep in the ODI series by winning 3-0 against Pakistan.
