A report from The Times of India has emerged to make shocking claims regarding star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The report has claimed that Jasprit Bumrah has been dealing with a knee injury, but the injury is not serious and does not require surgery. Earlier, it was being said that Jasprit Bumrah missed out on the Oval Test match due to his workload management, but the fresh reports have shocked the cricket fraternity. Bumrah was also released from India’s squad and will soon join the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation. Meanwhile, BCCI is yet to provide an update on Bumrah’s fitness officially, but an anonymous BCCI source has confirmed his injury. As quoted by the TOI, the BCCI source said: “Unfortunately, Bumrah is suffering from a knee injury. The good thing is that it’s not a major one and won’t require surgery. The BCCI medical team is currently awaiting his scan reports.” It was already made clear from the captain-coach duo of Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir that the 34-year-old pacer would feature in only three Test matches on this tour, but it was not clear in which matches he would get to play. This will be the second consecutive setback for India’s premier pacer; earlier, he was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a hectic workload and overbowling in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which led to a back injury. Bumrah’s extent of injury is still unclear, and further reports suggest that he is unlikely to feature in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, keeping his injury and workload management in mind. Jasprit Bumrah did well in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025-26, scalping 14 wickets in 5 innings at an economy rate of just 3.04 and a strike rate of 51.
