In a very shocking outcome, the Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill was reportedly not informed by the BCCI team management about dropping him, even though the decision had been taken much earlier. In a report from PTI, it is claimed that Gill not playing the T20 World Cup was settled during the fourth T20I against South Africa at Lucknow that was abandoned due to thick fog. Gill was not even a part of the squad due to a toe injury, and he didn't play the fifth T20I at Ahmedabad either. The decision was settled, and despite Gill being around, the Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, captain Suryakumar Yadav, and coach Gautam Gambhir did not spill a word on that. Gill was reported on the selection day morning, that is on Saturday, by Agarkar, that he would not make it into the squad. The report further added that Gill's injury was not serious enough to rule him out of the Ahmedabad T20I, which further seals the claims Read also: Revealed – Why Jitesh Sharma Was Dropped and Ishan Kishan Replaced Him in India’s T20 WC Squad Injury or strategy? What became a bane in Shuban Gill's steep rise? Following the squad announcement, a group of reporters engulfed Gambhir at the airport to say a word on Gill's omission from the World Cup squad. But Gambhir walked out with a visible anger on his face. Agarkar, who has been a great promoter of the Gill theory, had even said at the selection announcement that he still doesn't doubt Gill's ability. Rather, he feels, Gill won't suit the condition. It is believed the the pitch will go slower with time, which will need big-hitter batters like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan to pile up runs during the power play. Well, Gill was promoted as the all-format player, and after leading the Test and the ODI format, he was made the deputy of Suryakumar Yadav in the T20s. Vice captaincy went from Hardik Pandya to Axar Patel and then to Gill; that created a disgusting chaos in a settled opening order, literally forcing Sanju Samson down the order. Notably, Gill had earlier suffered from a neck spasm during the South Africa Test, due to which he missed the ODI series. Later, he was out for the latter half of the T20I series due to a toe injury. And now, if reports are to be believed, the question arises: did BCCI actually try to overcast the Gill-experiment following his form dip in T20I!
