With eight days left for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, former Australian cricketer Brendon Julian felt that Virat Kohli is probably not having a great rapport with the captain, Rohit Sharma, and the head coach, Gautam Gambhir. The recently concluded New Zealand Test Series has been one of Kohli's worst Test series, struggling badly with the bat. The BGT, which is a crucial series for India, needs an in-form Virat Kohli to take on the responsibilities for the team. However, Julian feels Kohli's relationship probably is not in a great state with the coach. While speaking to Fox Sports, Julian said, "The way that Virat Kohli got out against New Zealand – for him to get out like that in that Test series was unbelievable. Kohli is not at his best. He is not gelling with the captain probably and the coach but having said that, he can quickly turn it around. But if they start pulling in Perth, I reckon it'll be all over. The thing with Virat Kohli is that I think he would rather bat in Australia. The way he batted against New Zealand in India, he was getting out to spinners. The nemesis for him would be Nathan Lyon." Tough job for Bumrah, fears Julian Brendon Julian also showed concerns, fearing that the dominant Australians may clean the Indians within 4 days, and this definitely is not a great sign for India. He even praised India's Jasprit Bumrah, but at the same time, he felt that Bumrah's job would be tough as he would simultaneously open the bowling and lead India. As per reports, Rohit Sharma is set to miss the first Test at Perth. Even though his absence has not been made official, speculations are there that he may skip the Test owing to paternal leave. In the pre-departure press conference, the head coach, Gautam Gambhir, clarified that Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team in case Rohit stays unavailable.
