India won their third Champions Trophy after beating New Zealand in the final match in Dubai on Sunday. Rohit Sharma who led the batting lineup from the front line, scored crucial 76 runs in the final and helped the team in securing their third Champions Trophy title, their second ICC trophy in 9 months. Earlier it was speculated that Rohit Sharma would retire from ODI cricket after playing the Champions Trophy 2025 final, but Rohit made it clear that he is not going to retire from this format anytime soon. The 37-year-old Indian skipper set the tone for his team from the first over itself and scored a blistering 76-run knock in the final which eventually helped the team secure a four-wicket win over New Zealand. After the win, a viral video of Rohit Sharma went viral on social media claiming that he won’t be retiring. Meanwhile, Yograj Singh, the former Indian cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh, has backed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play until the ICC ODI World Cup 2027 which is set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. He also mentioned in his statement that no one can force Rohit and Virat to retire. As quoted by ANI, Yograj Singh said: “The best thing is that Rohit Sharma said he is not retiring. Well done, my son. Nobody can retire Rohit and Virat. They should think about retirement after winning the 2027 ODI World Cup. I had said this before: India would win.” If we talk about the performance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Champions Trophy 2025 then in 5 matches they scored 180 and 218 runs respectively and played an important role in India's Champions Trophy triumph. The Indian team has a good number of ODI matches to play ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup and the presence of these two senior batters in the team will play a crucial role in the upcoming events.
