The list of umpires and match referees released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the edition of the ICC Champions Trophy that is scheduled from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan and Dubai do not include any Indian officials. It is surprising that no Indian officials have been included on the list when Nitin Menon remains a top umpire in the ICC Elite Panel, while Javagal Srinath has been a veteran match referee in the ICC Elite Panel for nearly 18 years. So why aren't there any Indian officials in the Champions Trophy 2025? According to reports, both Nitin Menon and Javagal Srinath have decided not to take part in the tournament. It is because they cannot officiate in India's matches because according to the ICC rules, neutral umpires have to be present in the matches involving India. Since the majority of the tournament will be played in Pakistan, both the Indian officials have opted out of the event. The only Indian umpire on the ICC Elite Panel Nitin Menon preferred not to travel to Pakistan because of personal reasons. According to a BCCI source, "The ICC wanted to include Menon in the Champions Trophy roster, but he decided against traveling to Pakistan." Therefore, the decision of including any Indian officials for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was made by Menon and Srinath themselves. Also Read | Why is Virat Kohli Not Playing in 1st ODI vs England?
