A day after the inhuman attack happened in Kashmir's Pahalgam Valley, BCCI expressed condolences as all players in wore black armbands in the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Not only that, no DJ was playing, and the cheerleaders were absent. With IPL restarting after a week gap, the league is likely to follow the same for the remainder of the league. In a recent report of India Today, it said that IPL will not play any DJ or entertain cheerleaders since the league will restart on Saturday, May 17. It will be a gesture meant to show respect to the deceased and the martyrs in the tensions. Earlier in an interview with Sports Today, former Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar urged BCCI to carry on with the tournament for the sake of it, without glamour. He said, "Let the games be played. Let the crowds come in. Let's just have the tournament - the balance of the tournament. Just no dancing girls, nothing. Just cricket would be a really nice way to respect the sentiment of the families who have lost their near and dear ones." Read also: Virat Kohli's Test Retirement Wasn’t Voluntary? The IPL 2025 season is set to resume this Saturday, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The remaining league matches will be played across six venues: Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Lucknow. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told India Today that details for the play-offs and final venues will be revealed later. The league phase ends on May 27, followed by the play-offs from May 29. The final is now scheduled for June 3, instead of May 25. This extended window has raised concerns about overseas player availability during the knockouts.
