After the retirement of Virat Kohli, the question that surrounds the air is, will Test cricket ever be that relevant after Kohli's departure. And former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has his answer. With all due respect to Virat Kohli, Ashwin clarified that no one is bigger than sports. Ahswin recently had an interview session with RevSports, where he was approached with the most asked question, if the young generation can carry forward Kohli's legacy in cricket or not. Ashwin wittily answered, "I do not think anybody who has played the game, or will play the game, is higher than the game itself. Nobody that walks the park does good for the game – the game does good or bad by them. I love Virat, but he has come, played the game, left the game, left it at a great place. And now, it is for someone else to take it forward." Kohli led India's Test team during a period when T20s and franchise leagues were drawing more attention away from red-ball cricket. Still, he remained a strong supporter of the longest format and constantly urged young players around the world to gauge their success by how well they performed in Test cricket. He added, "Now looking forward to the attitude and desire of talents like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel to take it ahead. It’s time to see if they can replicate the intense energy that players like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar showed on the field all these years.
