In it, the BCCI has suggested that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad should host the grand final of the tournament. This would be the second ICC final at the world's largest cricket stadium, after the 2023 ODI World Cup final, in which Australia defeated India to lift their sixth title. Role of Sri Lanka in Co-Hosting While Sri Lanka will also host a few matches under the hosting agreement, the matches are only those in which Pakistan is participating. This is solely due to political reasons that would not permit Pakistan to travel to India. Moreover, if Sri Lanka reaches the semi-finals, one of the semi-final matches will also be in Sri Lanka. Similarly, if Pakistan reaches the final, the venue would be shifted from Ahmedabad to Sri Lanka. The ICC is expected to release the final schedule following a review of BCCI’s proposal. Fans in both countries are looking out for the announcement as a countdown for another gripping edition of the T20 World Cup gets underway.
