An all-rounder, Reddy played all five games of the series, scoring 298 runs and five wickets for the team. However, the real highlight for Reddy was in the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he struck a sensational ton in the Boxing Day Test. Though it could not help India win the game, the sheer dominance with which Reddy played on Australian soil earned him massive praises from experts and fans alike. The series ended and the cricketer returned back to India on Thursday, January 9. He was warmly greeted by the natives when he arrived at Visakhapatnam airport, his native place. He is also the batter to hit a century at number eight for India, not to forget, the third youngest Indian to achieve the feat in Australia at the age of 21 years and 256 days and is placed only behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (18 years 256 days) and the talented Rishabh Pant (21 years 92 days). Meanwhile, the Vizag-born is well in contention to be included in India's Champions Trophy squad, which begins in February. The deadline for squad announcement is Sunday, January 12, and after successful T20I and Test debuts, Reddy maybe handed an ODI call-up as well to act as the secondary all-rounder alongside vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
