The under-19 women's Asia Cup-winning captain Niki Prasad has been made the captain once again for the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup. The Board of Cricket Council in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad under Prasad's leadership for the tournament scheduled from January 18 to February 2, 2025, in Malaysia. The team underwent just one change from the Asia Cup squad, as they added Vaishnavi S in place of Nandhana S. Sanika Chalka will be touring as the vice captain of the team. India, the reigning champions, are drawn into Group A with Malaysia (the host nation), Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. Their campaign will commence on January 19 at Kuala Lumpur's Bayuemas Oval, where they face the West Indies in their opening match. There will be a total of 16 teams in the tournament. Four groups have been made, each having four teams in it. The top 3 teams from each group will qualify for the Super Six stage. Thereafter, two groups will be formed: Group 1 and Group 2, having the top three teams from Groups A and D and the top three teams from Groups B and C, respectively. Malaysia automatically qualified as the host nation, while Nepal, Nigeria, Samoa, Scotland, and the United States secured their places through regional qualifiers.
