New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced their squad for the Sri Lanka tour on Tuesday, the star Kiwi all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been named as the captain for this tour, starting next month. The Black Caps will travel to Sri Lanka for their upcoming white-ball tour after the end of their ongoing three-match Test series against India. New Zealand have already taken a 1-0 lead in this lead and they will be looking to win the next match and seal the series. The New Zealand cricket team is set to play 2 T20I matches in Dambulla on November 9 and 10, followed by a three-match ODI series. New Zealand is set for its first white-ball tour since Kane Williamson stepped down as captain, following a disappointing showing in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The team struggled during the tournament, held in the USA and West Indies in June, and were eliminated in the first round. In preparation for this tour, New Zealand Cricket has announced a 15-man squad, which includes two new faces: all-rounder Nathan Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Mitch Hay, both receiving their first call-ups. Nathan Smith was honored as NZC's Domestic Player of the Year in March, thanks to his impressive haul of 24 wickets across both the domestic ODI and T20 competitions. Similarly, 24-year-old Hay earned the title of Canterbury's male Player of the Year for his outstanding performance.
