The Indian batting star Virat Kohli has finally revealed the reason behind stepping out from the Twenty-20 Internationals in a recent interview at the RCB podcast. Kohli hung his boots from the T20Is right after winning the T20 World Cup in 2024 held at Barbados. Along with him, Ravindra Jadeja and the captain of the team, Rohit Sharma, called off their tenures. Following that, India won the Champions Trophy in Dubai, and thereafter they started gearing up for the Indian Premier League. With the league half done, Kohli has finally revealed the reason behind such a drastic decision. In the podcast, Kohli revealed he wanted the new players to shine. The T20 World Cup normally has a window of 2 years. And the players should utilize the time to groom themselves for the coming World Cup. he said, “I do not think things have changed for me in any way. His stellar performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award in both the 2014 and 2016 editions of the T20 World Cup. Notably, he scored 76 off 59 balls in the final against South Africa, and won the player of the match award in 2024 T20 World Cup. At present, Kohli continues to shine in IPL 2025, where he leads RCB’s scoring charts with 443 runs from 10 games, averaging 63.29.
