The Punjab Kings spinner Harpreet Brar was spotted rolling his arms in the India nets during the practice session on June 28. He was not seen in the earlier practice sessions. And that he has been one of the inclusions in the troop, speculations rose regarding his inclusion in 18-man squad of India. Earlier, Harshit Rana was included as the 19th man right after his tour with the India A group against the England Lions. He was even there in the dugout, chilling with Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh during the first Test match at Headingley. However, the team has reportedly released him before moving to Birmingham. Gautam Gambhir reasoned that BCCI was fearing someone's injury in the team and thus Rana was added as a substitute. Probably, the fear has been waved off and he has been asked to leave. Apart from Brar, another Punjab pacer, Arshdeep, was also seen toiling hard in the nets. Amid controversies regarding Jasprit Bumrah's availability in the second Test, he too was proactive along with India captain Shubman Gill. If looked at the records at Edgbaston, pacers always had an upper hand in the last 10 games. They took 230 wickets, while 59 wickets fell to spinners. With Jofra Archer coming back in the England setup, it will be more tormenting for the Indians. For Indians, they have Ravindra Jadeja, the sole senior spinner in the squad. Even though Washington Sundar can bat, he is young and the other one is Kuldeep, who is warming the bench with Washi. In such a situation, Harpreet quite obviously won't be added to the squad. He was added to the squad as the net bowler; however, how long has not been declared. Notably, India will play the second at Edgbaston on July 2, hoping to equal the scoreline.
