Nepal and Oman have formally reserved their places in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 after a series of dramatic matches in the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Their qualification had already been sealed before their direct encounter, following the UAE's win against Samoa, which guaranteed both sides a top-three finish in the Super Six stage. The Super Six match has been the closest in recent times, with five of the first six matches coming down to the last over. Nepal and Oman stood above other teams, displaying the dominance in tight spots to secure their berth in the T20 World Cup 2026. They maintained their good touch with two nail-biting wins against UAE and Qatar. Against the UAE, Nepal squeezed past a thriller of a match. Dipendra Singh Airee was hit for six by Dhruv Parashar, bringing the total down to three from three balls. But a stunning catch by Sundeep Jora and two vital run-outs gave Nepal a last-ball win. Their following encounter against Qatar was also as close. Back to defend 148, Nepal were under the gun as Qatar accumulated 97/1 in 12 overs. But Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal's star spinner, turned things around with a 5/18 spell that sent Qatar into a tailspin that left them ten runs short. Oman's Consistency Pays Off Oman, who also brought two points into the Super Six phase, started their campaign with a facile victory over Qatar, defending a total of 172. Against the UAE in their second match, they were put to the test but sealed the deal in dramatic fashion. Nadeem Khan's late heroics, hammering a four and a six off successive deliveries by Muhammad Arfan, led Oman to victory with two balls to spare. The victory guaranteed Oman's qualification, keeping their unblemished record in the tournament and reiterating their rising profile in associate cricket. Samoa, who performed well in the group phase, have been out of the top-three picture. Qatar also have an outside hope but need to beat Samoa and hope for other outcomes and net run rate to remain in the hunt for the final World Cup place.
