Ahead of the second Test match against Zimbabwe, New Zealand have some disappointing news as their pace bowling all-rounder Nathan Smith has been ruled out of the second Test match due to an abdominal strain. Zakary Foulkes has received his maiden Test call-up as his replacement for the final match, which begins on August 7. Smith sustained an abdominal injury while batting on the second day of the first Test match against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Later, an MRI confirmed the strain, which rules him out of cricket for two to four weeks. Nathan Smith had a decent outing in the opening match, scalping three wickets and scoring some handy runs with the bat. He picked 3 for 20 in the first innings of Zimbabwe and was retired hurt on 22 from 79 deliveries and didn’t return for the remainder of the match. O’Rourke has been monitored by the management ahead of the second Test match. Much like Foulkes, Lister is yet to make his Test debut for New Zealand but has featured in 3 ODIs and 12 T20I matches. His last appearance in international cricket came against Pakistan more than a year ago. New Zealand comfortably defeated the hosts by 9 wickets in the first Test match and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. Matt Henry was the star performer from the team, taking 9 wickets in the match for just 90 runs.
