India Women and England Women are currently engaged in a five-match T20I series with India leading the series 2-1. England Women, who are already trailing behind in the series have been dealt with another disappointing news as their skipper and star all-rounder of the team Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the remaining two matches due to a left groin injury, Tammy Beaumont will take care of the leadership duties. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed about her injury on Friday, mentioning that Sciver-Brunt will miss the remaining two matches. Meanwhile, Maia Bouchier has been called up as her replacement for the remainder of the series. According to the official statement released by the ECB, the English skipper will recover in time ahead of the ODI series against India and will be available for selection. The ODI leg of the white-ball tour will get underway after the conclusion of the T20I. But at the same time, they have been dealt with the disappointing news of Sciver’s injury. The 32-year-old all-rounder of the team has been a key performer and currently one of the best performing all-rounders in the Women’s cricket, capable of winning any match single handedly. Her absence has definitely left a void in England’s bowling attack. Tammy Beaumont has kept the hopes alive for England after a thrilling victory in the third T20I match at the Oval on Friday. While batting first, England posted 171 for 9 with the help of Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s respective half-centuries. Later, they restricted India Women to 166 for 5 in their innings, where Smriti Mandhana stood out with her 56-run knock. With only two matches left in the series, both teams are eyeing to take the advantage going into the last match. India Women are itching to seal the series; on the other end, England would be eager to keep their momentum going and register their second consecutive victory in the series. The 4th T20I match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, July 9, at Old Trafford in Manchester.
