My11Circle, the fantasy gaming platform owned by Games24x7, has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of its inability to continue as an IPL associate sponsor. This move comes soon after Dream11 withdrew as the Indian cricket jersey sponsor. A BCCI official anonymously said, “They have recently made it known to us that they cannot continue as their main business has taken a beating." My11Circle had secured IPL sponsorship in 2024, outbidding Dream11, for a sum of ₹625 crore over five years. Both firms are affected by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which led to the suspension of their Real Money Gaming operations. Attempts to obtain a comment from My11Circle were unsuccessful. The decision leaves a significant gap in IPL’s sponsorship portfolio. My11Circle’s contribution of ₹125 crore was part of a collective annual sponsorship revenue of approximately ₹875 crore last year. Most sponsorship contracts extend until 2028, except RuPay, whose term runs until 2026. With the fantasy gaming category now inactive, the BCCI may need to explore new sponsors and fresh categories to maintain revenue. The exit appears to be by mutual consent, considering the regulatory limitations. Fantasy gaming previously accounted for over ₹5,000 crore in advertising during major cricket tournaments, underscoring its market significance. To replace Dream11 as jersey sponsors, the BCCI has set the base asking price at ₹3.5 crore per bilateral match and ₹1.5 crore per ICC or ACC fixture. The Indian board hopes to secure at least ₹450 crore from a potential three-year deal. Meanwhile, the Indian T20 team is training in Dubai for the Asia Cup without any sponsors’ logos, highlighting the immediate need for new commercial partners. The situation underscores both the regulatory impact on online fantasy gaming and the financial recalibrations BCCI must make to safeguard IPL sponsorship revenue.
