Amidst the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the marquee tournament of India—the Indian Premier League—is not being excluded from security concerns. Dharmshala's the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium is likely to host their third match of the league on May 11, between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings. According to reports, the venue is likely to be alternated. According to a report from News 18 Cricket, the match might shift to either DIY Patil Stadium or Brabourne Stadium. Prior to that, Punjab will play against Delhi Capitals there, on May 8. Reports say that the match might be rescheduled. Meanwhile, due to security concerns, 18 airports have been shut down temporarily, including the Pathankot and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. In such a scenario, certain sources of NDTV has informed, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in touch with the Indian government regarding the matter." Even the Mumbai Indians' travel to Dharmshala is uncertain, even if they take the roads. A BCCI source informed PTI, "Everything is fluid at the moment. Discussions are on with franchises and they are also internally discussing about what are the options of travelling from Dharamsala to Delhi in case the airport remains shut." Notably, India will undergo mockdrills today, May 7, while several parts of the country will face blackouts from 7 pm, and it might stay for 15 to 30 minutes. Greater Kolkata, West Bengal, has been marked to undergo such drills. In that case, it might see some delay in the match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. The uncertainty arose after the Indian government executed "Operation Sindoor" right after 15 days of the heinous attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. "Operation Sindoor" targeted 9 base camps of the terrorist groups, five based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while the rest four in Pakistan.
