The batters still dominated Day 3 of the unofficial 1st Test at Canterbury between India A and England Lions. Only 17 wickets have fallen against 1084-plus runs-that's the run fest on a flat track. With a balanced Day 2, the Lions resumed at 2 down and even further frustrated India A. The pitch offered nothing for the bowlers and so the Lions just chipped away at the India A's attack. Fielding continued to be sloppy as Dhruv Jurel dropped yet another sitter, this one off Max Holden's bat, with Harshit Rana bowling. The gloveman, of course, was soon to be rewarded as Holden got out for 101. Suddenly, the England Lions fell from 312/2 to 326/5, giving India A a slight edge before lunch. Until the intervals things had been calm and nothing much had happened. India were unable to scuffle up a wicket in the second session. Tom Haines moved to 167, while Dan Mousley was nearing his fifty. The pitch offered no assistance and sincerity of the pressuring never came across. Finally, Shardul Thakur got Haines out for 171, but Mousley kept going, with Akhter also joining in. He bowled the maximum number of overs but couldn't make them tight. Harshit Rana was far better disciplined than the previous day, and yet a dropped catch dented his figures considerably. Nitish Kumar Reddy struggled with both line and control. Karun Nair brought some relief by getting Mousley out for 113 just before stumps. The Lions ended the day trailing by 30 runs. Indubitably, a lead is in sight on Day 4, for a draw, given the flat nature of the pitch, is the likeliest outcome now.
