The Pakistan cricket team, under the leadership of Abbas Afridi, made history when it won the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 for a record sixth time and for the first time after 2011. With this win, Pakistan became the most successful team in the tournament's history, going past England and South Africa, who have both won five titles each. Dominating Run by Pakistan in the Tournament Pakistan played excellent cricket throughout the tournament, as they lost just one game, to their arch-nemesis India, in the group stage but bounced back strongly thereafter, winning all their remaining matches, including a commanding 43-run victory over Kuwait in the final on Sunday. Muhammad Shahzad performed very well and celebrated the victory in style as he copied the famous trophy pose of Hardik Pandya. His celebration instantly went viral on social media. "Fun end to the Hong Kong Sixes. Business as usual," he shared. The post seemed to be a light-hearted reply to that from Dinesh Karthik earlier when the Indian captain had shared, "Fun start to Hong Kong Sixes. Winning against Pak." Karthik had made the post following India’s close win over Pakistan in their first encounter that was affected by rain. However, India’s joy didn’t last long as their campaign was all downhill. They lost all remaining matches and were knocked out early while Pakistan went on to win the title. Social media was flooded with reactions from both countries, with many terming Shahzad's post the "perfect comeback" to Karthik's previous statement. The fast-moving six-a-side format of the Hong Kong Sixes continued to produce the magic moments of cricket. Pakistan's sixth title win has finally established them as the undisputed side of this tournament, showcasing the depth and dominance in the shorter formats of the game.
