In the latest development, Former CSK captain and wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni is all set to meet the franchise officials either on the 29th or 30th of this month to finalize the retention for the upcoming IPL edition. The upcoming meeting carries great importance as the CSK management eagerly awaits MS Dhoni's decision on his availability for IPL 2025. With the retention deadline looming on October 31, all eyes are on the cricket legend to see if he will return for what could be his final season in the IPL. As of now, Dhoni has not confirmed his participation in the 2025 season. According to reports from Sports Tak, CSK officials previously approached him, but Dhoni made it clear that he would not be available for discussions before October 28. This has led to expectations of a meeting on either October 29 or 30. Should Dhoni decide to play one more season, CSK will be able to keep him under the recently reinstated "uncapped player" rule. The recent reinstatement of a rule by the IPL, which had been discarded in 2021, now allows a player to be classified as uncapped if they have been out of international cricket for five years. This change opens the door for MS Dhoni, who hasn't participated in any international matches for the last five years. Having last played for India in 2019 and retiring in 2020, Dhoni fits this criterion perfectly. As a result, CSK can retain him for a fee of INR 4 crore.
