South African youngster Dewald Brevis was one of the rare bright spots in what was otherwise a forgettable season for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. CSK finished at the bottom of the table with just 4 wins from 14 matches, but the 22-year-old left a strong impression with his attacking cameos and calmness under pressure. Having previously played for the Mumbai Indians, Brevis was surprisingly overlooked at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, after a strong showing for MI Cape Town in the SA20, he was picked up mid-season by CSK as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh.
