There has been much speculation over the last years that MS Dhoni may retire from the sport owing to his injury problems; however, the talismanic cricketer has overcome all hurdles and entertained the fans during the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his flamboyant batting and exhilarating wicketkeeping. He had handed over the captaincy of CSK last year to Ruturaj Gaikwad and played a few whirlwind cameos down the order for five-time champions. Recently in this month, the IPL Governing Council brought back some old rule under which it would be allowed CSK to retain Dhoni for the 2025 cash-rich league edition as the player is uncapped. Now CSK has yet to reply to confirm if Dhoni will be playing in this edition either. I have kept it very simple. I will train for 15, 20, 25 days, then take off for 15-20 days, so it really helps me be in the groove,” the former Indiac captain added. Since Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020, he only plays for the IPL. Chennai Super Kings will get a chance to retain Dhoni for Rs 4 crore under the new retention rules. This will enable the Men in Yellow to retain a major chunk of their purse and fill the remaining slots in the team.
