Star Sports has released a fun promo for the 2025 Champions Trophy featuring India's "Captain Cool," Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Champions Trophy, which is coming back after 8 years, is set to start from February 19. Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar have gotten the right to broadcast and livestream the tournament and has released the promo 20 days before the start of the tournament. In the video, Dhoni shared that staying calm as a captain was relatively easier, but being a fan was a different story. The 2013 Champions Trophy winner also discussed the fierce competition in the tournament, highlighting how one loss could eliminate the team. To stay composed ahead of the event, the legendary captain humorously referred to his "Dhoni Refrigeration System" to maintain his cool. In the promo, MS was heard saying, “When I was the captain, it was easy to remain cool but it won’t be easy to watch Champions Trophy as a fan. Our team might be strong but if we lose one game, then we’re almost out of the tournament. The temperature has risen so much due to constant tension.” Captain Cool on the field 😌Captain Cool as a fan 🥵With every match do-or-die in the #ChampionsTrophy, even @msdhoni needs a DRS (Dhoni Refrigeration System) to beat the heat! 👊📺 #ChampionsTrophyOnJioStar STARTS WED, 19 FEB 2025! | #CaptainNotSoCool pic.twitter.com/nv1XXZoHht — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) January 29, 2025 Read also: Steve Smith Reaches 10,000 Test Runs in Galle, Makes History India in Champions Trophy MS Dhoni has been the leader of the valiant Indian team that won the Champions Trophy in 2013, that happened to be India's last ICC Trophy before India won the ICC T20I World Cup. He also led India in the 2009 Champions Trophy. India’s 2013 Champions Trophy win saw them remain unbeaten, with Dhoni boldly backing a young squad over veterans like Sehwag, Zaheer, and Gambhir—a decision that paid off. India reached the 2017 final but suffered a 180-run defeat to Pakistan, who claimed their maiden trophy. After 8 years, India got a good chance to claim the title. However, despite Pakistan hosting the tournament this year, India will play their matches in Dubai, having their opening match on February 20 against Bangladesh.
