India's premier T20 pacer Arshdeep Singh has been in the headlines for not playing the first two T20I matches against Australia in the ongoing 5-match series. However, he came in the third one quite loudly to claim the player of the match award. MEanwhile, before the fourth T20I, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel explained why the left-arm seamer, aka the team’s leading T20I wicket-taker, was rested for the first two matches against Australia. He said, “Arsdeep is experienced. He understands that there is also a bigger picture where we are trying different combinations. He is a world-class bowler and has taken the most wickets for us in the power play, so we know how valuable he is to the team. But for us on the day, on this tour, it is also to have a look at other combinations, and he understands that." Morkel added that selection can be tough for players but stressed the need to test various combinations ahead of the T20 World Cup. He noted that the management wants to observe how players handle pressure in limited opportunities and encouraged them to stay prepared for their chances while maintaining a winning mindset. However, the 22-year-old Reddy was spotted having net sessions at Canberra. Notably, the fourth T20I will be played tomorrow, November 6.
